Trump Attacks London’s Mayor, Gun Control Advocacy and Being P.C. Following London Terrorism Leaving 7 Dead

“Do You Notice We Are Not Having a Gun Debate Right Now?”

Just hours after two reported terrorist incidents in London left seven people dead and at least 48 civilians and four police officers injured, one seriously, Donald Trump has attacked the Mayor of London, gun control advocacy and being politically correct in his latest early morning tweet-storm.

While events were still unfolding last night, the President of the United States saw it fit to first retweet a news story from the right-wing Drudge Report, prematurely calling the incidents terror attacks, then advocate for his Muslim travel ban, and then offer the United States’ support to the U.K.

Now, early this morning in the United States and mid-afternoon in London, as those in the U.K. deal with the fallout of the events, Trump shared his thoughts with the world, arguably still to advocate for his Muslim travel ban.

“We must stop being politically correct and get down to the business of security for our people,” Trump tweeted. “If we don’t get smart it will only get worse.”

Following this, he turned his ire to Sadiq Khan, who is most certainly attempting to reassure his people during this difficult time in his role as London’s mayor. “At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is ‘no reason to be alarmed!’”

As The Telegraph pointed out from the U.K., Trump was referring to Khan’s statement early Sunday that advised he was grieving for the victims and insisted that terrorists “would not win.” 

He continued that “Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days. There’s no reason to be alarmed.” He then subsequently “went on to condemn the attack in the strongest possible terms and ask for people to remain vigilant.”

Finally, Trump turned to gun control advocacy. “Do you notice we are not having a gun debate right now?” he tweeted. “That’s because they used knives and a truck!”
