Spicer: Trump Wants a Health Care Bill With ‘Heart’ (Video)

Trump Has Called Bill ‘Mean’ – It’s Actually Worse

The House Republican health care bill will kick 23 million people off their coverage and has just 17 percent of Americans supporting it. President Donald Trump last week reportedly called it “mean.”

Trump before and after the election promised his health care plan would cover everyone, be less expensive for consumers, and offer better coverage and a higher quality of care.

The bill sent to the Senate from the House does not achieve these goals, not even closely.

Now, the Senate is rushing to pass a bill before the July 4 recess, so lawmakers are not bombarded with protests at town halls and other meetings with constituents. The bill is so bad that even President Trump reportedly said it needs more “heart.”

Questioned about this issue at Tuesday afternoon’s daily press briefing, Spicer echoed the President’s words.

“The president clearly wants a bill that has heart in it,” Spicer told reporters.

Spicer also told reporters he does not even know if Trump has seen the bill.

President Trump made his remarks about the health care bill during his meeting Monday with tech CEOs.

The LGBT community and people living with HIV/AIDS are especially concerned.

AIDS Institute deputy director Carl Schmid “said he couldn’t overstate the calamity passage of the American Health Care Act would mean for people with HIV,” the Washington Blade reported in March.

“I hate to use the word devastating, other people have used it,” Schmid said. “The CBO score is not surprising at all because it’s what we had said that the biggest impact, they’re really cutting back, scaling back coverage in Medicaid. They’re removing all these people from the Medicaid rolls.”

Republicans are refusing to release the draft of the bill. During the ObamaCare debates, Republicans accused Democrats of not being transparent. What they are doing now is far worse.
