Republican Congressman Wants Every ‘Radicalized Islamic Suspect’ Killed

‘Kill Them All’

A freshman Republican U.S. Congressman from Louisiana is calling for individuals suspected of radical Islamic activity to be hunted down and killed.

“The free world…all of Christendom…is at war with Islamic horror,” Representative Clay Higgins posted to his official Congressional Campaign Facebook page. “Not one penny of American treasure should be granted to any nation who harbors these heathen animals. Not a single radicalized Islamic suspect should be granted any measure of quarter. Their intended entry to the American homeland should be summarily denied. Every conceivable measure should be engaged to hunt them down. Hunt them, identity them, and kill them. Kill them all. For the sake of all that is good and righteous. Kill them all.”

Higgins (photo, top), a former St, Landry Parish Sheriff’s Department Captain ran on his law enforcement record prior to his election to the U.S. House of Representatives. In his Facebook post he echoed and embraced the principal philosophy and theme of the American political far right which declares that the Western fight against extremist jihadists is part of a fundamental clash between Christian society and Islam.

As Higgins’ Facebook post was repeatedly shared and then given media exposure, he did not apologize or remove it.

“We are a world at war,” Rep. Higgins’ office said in a statement responding to the backlash. “The enemy is radicalized Islamic jihadists. The terrorists certainly take advantage of the politically correct madness that consumes the West. They revel, that many in the western world are frightened to speak freely. I’ve never been accused of being politically correct. I call things the way I see them. The meaning of candid speech is frequently mischaracterized or misunderstood. This is about prioritizing national security and protecting American lives. Every measure must be taken to eliminate radical Islamic terrorism and the threat it poses to the free world. My only concern is protecting the people that live in my district, my state, and my country. We must stand strong against radical Islamic terror. The fate of the free world will be determined by the courageous, not by the intimidated.”

A spokesperson for the Congressman, Chris Comeaux, told Mother Jones Magazine that Higgins was strictly referring to terrorists.

“Rep. Higgins is referring to terrorists,” Comeaux wrote in an email. “He’s advocating for hunting down and killing all of the terrorists. This is an idea all of America & Britain should be united behind.”

Higgins, despite being sworn in as a U.S. Congressman in January, still presents himself as a law enforcement officer. Here’s his Facebook post from last month:

This is not the first time Higgins has stirred up controversy. According to Mother Jones, shortly before running for Congress, Higgins resigned from his post as the public information officer of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, where he had earned a reputation as the “Cajun John Wayne” for his tough-talking CrimeStopper videos. Higgins abruptly quit after his boss, the sheriff, ordered him to tone down his unprofessional comments.

“I repeatedly told him to stop saying things like, ‘You have no brain cells,’ or making comments that were totally disrespectful and demeaning,” the sheriff said.

“I don’t do well reined in,” Higgins noted at the time. “Although I love and respect my sheriff, I must resign.”
