London Mayor’s Spokesperson: ‘More Important Things to do Than Respond’ to ‘Ill-Informed’ Trump
“The Mayor is Busy Working with Police, Emergency Services, and the Governmentâ€
Early this morning, Donald Trump attacked London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s attempt to console the people of London following the terror attacks that left seven dead and at least 48 civilians and four police officers injured.
“At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and the Mayor of London says there is ‘no reason to be alarmed!’†Trump tweeted, a response to Khan’s statement given early Sunday in which advised he was grieving for the victims and insisted that terrorists “would not win.â€
“Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days. There’s no reason to be alarmed,†Sadiq said, turning to condemnation of the attack and “in the strongest possible terms†asking for people to remain vigilant.
A spokesperson for London Mayor Khan, when asked for a response, replied bluntly:

“The Mayor is busy working with the police, emergency services, and the government to coordinate the response to this horrific and cowardly terrorist attack and provide leadership and reassurance to Londoners and visitors to our city,†the spokesperson said.
“He has more important things to do than respond to Donald Trump’s ill-informed tweet that deliberately takes out of context his remarks urging Londoners not to be alarmed when they saw more police—including armed officers—on the streets.â€
