Kellyanne Conway Mocked for Attacking Reporters Covering Trump’s Tweets

Heated Exchange as Conway Says She ‘Won’t Allow’ Trump to Be Blamed for His Remarks on Twitter

President Donald Trump, as he did at 6:25 AM Monday morning, tweets. A lot. It’s how he like to communicate his “message” to the American people. But Kellyanne Conway is tired of the media reporting on Trump’s tweets – and says she “won’t allow” his to be blamed for them.

On Sunday, President Trump posted to Twitter an attack on London’s mayor, less than a day after that city suffered a terrorist attack. The White House still has not issued an official statement on the attack, which for any other administration would be unprecedented and extraordinary. And Trump took the mayor’s remarks out of context, to boot.

On NBC’s “TODAY” show, Conway blasted hosts Craig Melvin and Savannah Guthrie for reporting on Trump’s Twitter attack on London Mayor Sadiq Khan, while refusing to say Trump should apologize for it. The exchange got rather heated, as Guthrie questioned the “taste, judgment, and accuracy” of Trump’s Twitter attack, and Conway said she won’t allow Trump to be seen as “the perpetrator.”

Conway, whose official title is Counselor to the President, shockingly suggested reporters should substitute “ISIS” for every time they say “Russia,” and every time they say “‘Twitter,’ imagine if you said ‘terrorist.'” 

Asked, repeatedly Conway would not say Trump owes Khan an apology:

Conway also insisted, “This obsession with covering everything he says on Twitter and very little what he does as president,” which, given how much he tweets, is laughable.

In the second half of the video at the top, Melvin asked Conway why the administration isn’t doing anything to improve security or vetting while Trump’s Muslim ban is being reviewed by the courts. She did not answer.
