Donald Trump Jr. Wants Johnny Depp Fired

Donald Trump Jr. wants Disney to fire Johnny Depp. The 54-year old “Pirates of the Caribbean” star on Thursday spoke to an audience in England, and asked, “When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?”

“I want to clarify,” he continued, “I’m not an actor. I lie for a living. However, it’s been awhile, and maybe it’s time.”

By the way, this is going to be in the press and it’ll be horrible,” Depp acknowledged. “It’s just a question; I’m not insinuating anything.”

Depp apologized hours later.

“I apologize for the bad joke I attempted last night in poor taste about President Trump,” he told PEOPLE magazine in a statement. “It did not come out as intended, and I intended no malice. I was only trying to amuse, not to harm anyone.”

That apparently was not sufficient for the President’s eldest son, who, like his father, takes to Twitter to vent about seemingly everything that irks him.

Saturday morning Trump Jr. tweeted a link to a story from the website, The Gateway Pundit, which Snopes has called “disreputable,” and was included in a New York Times article, “How Fake News Goes Viral: A Case Study.” Gateway Pundit’s founder, Jim Hoft, has been labeled “the stupidest man on the internet,” as Google and Twitter searches show. In January, Media Matters published, “22 Times Jim Hoft And The Gateway Pundit Were Absurdly Wrong.”

Needless to say, as inappropriate and offensive as Depp’s “joke” was, #FireDepp did not go viral, nor are there many calls for Disney to end its relationship with the actor. It should go without saying, but calls for physical attacks or the death of any president are wrong are should be treated as such. (NCRM was quick to denounce Kathy Griffin’s horrific attack on Trump.)

When Ted Nugent promoted a video showing the murder of Hillary Clinton, Trump Jr. was silent. When Ted Nugent said: “Obama, he’s a piece of shit. I told him to suck on my machine gun,” adding, “Hey Hillary, you might want to ride one of these into the sunset, you worthless bitch,” Trump Jr. was also silent.

Trump Jr. also re-tweeted this:

NCRM could find no liberals supporting Depp’s remarks as “free speech.”

Inexplicably, he also took a swipe at Senator Dianne Feinstein, linking to a Daily Caller article in which she allegedly defends cancelling conservative speakers on campuses:
