Donald Trump Accuses Hillary Clinton of Collusion

Twitter Responds in Mockery and Derision

In a curious attempt to turn the tables President Donald Trump early Sunday morning accused his former Democratic opponent of collusion. While Trump has not yet been charged with any crimes and has yet to be impeached, he has stated he is under investigation for obstruction of justice and many believe he or his campaign colluded with Russia.

“Hillary Clinton colluded with the Democratic Party in order to beat Crazy Bernie Sanders,” Trump tweeted. “Is she allowed to so collude? Unfair to Bernie!”

Like many of Trump’s statements, there is absolutely zero proof Clinton “colluded” with the DNC. The Russian-hacked DNC server netted thousands of emails which Wikileaks released showed some DNC officials discussing their preference for Clinton over Sanders, at times in rather unacceptable ways. Reports at the time showed DNC officials impatient with Sanders for not ending his campaign, which political analysts said harmed Clinton.

“Many of the most damaging emails suggest the committee was actively trying to undermine Bernie Sanders’s presidential campaign,” The Washington Post reported in July of 2016. “Basically all of these examples came late in the primary — after Hillary Clinton was clearly headed for victory — but they belie the national party committee’s stated neutrality in the race even at that late stage.”

Regardless, and while there was no collusion between Clinton and the DNC, there is a huge difference between what happened at the DNC and a presidential campaign or presidential candidate colluding with a foreign nation, especially one that is an enemy of the United States.

On Twitter, Trump was roundly derided and mocked:
