Trump Nominates White Collar Crime Defense Attorney Who Defended Chris Christie During Bridgegate to Head FBI

‘Heavy Hitter’ Defending Top Corporations, Chris Christie During Bridgegate Investigation

President Donald Trump, in a clear attempt to detract from Wednesday’s testimony by four top intelligence officials, has just announced his new nominee to replace Jim Comey as Director of the FBI. Christopher Wray, a white collar crime defense attorney at the white shoe international law firm King & Spalding.

Wray served at the U.S. Dept. of Justice from 2001-2005 before leaving for private practice. From 2003-2005 he served as the Assistant Attorney General in charge of the DOJ’s Criminal Division.

At King & Spalding Wray defended New Jersey Governor Chris Christie “in connection with investigations relating to the George Washington Bridge toll lane closings,” his bio at King & Spalding states. He has also defended health care, pharmaceutical, telecommunications, and financial companies under federal investigation.

Trump should expect a fight.
