Breaking: Supreme Court Will Hear Trump Muslim Travel Ban – Continues Block on Some Portions of Ban

Administration Signals It Wants the Issue to Stay in Public Eye

The U.S. Supreme Court has just announced it will grant President Donald Trump’s request to review cases related to his Muslim travel ban. The court noted it will schedule review for October, signaling, perhaps, that it does not see a need for expedited review. Of note, the court also stated the Trump administration did not request expedited review, suggesting the administration would rather use the issue as a political wedge rather than use it to, as it claims, protect the American people.

“The Government has not requested that we expedite consideration of the merits to a greater extent,” the Court writes. 

The Supreme Court ruled that Trump’s ban on people from six majority Muslim countries can go into effect but only on people who have no relationship to people in the U.S., from relatives to employment or education. If an immigrant can prove a relationship to someone in those categories, the ban cannot be used to prohibit them from entering the country.

If someone has no relationship to someone in the country, they can be blocked from entering.
