Breaking: Mitch McConnell Delays Health Care Vote Until After July 4 Recess

President Invites All GOP Senators to White House for Afternoon Confab

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has reportedly just told his caucus he is delaying the vote on the Republican bill to repeal and “replace” ObamaCare after about a half-dozen Senators refused to vote not only for the bill, but for a motion to allow the bill to move forward for debate.

CNN Senior Congressional Reporter Manu Raju reports McConnell “will delay the health care vote until after the recess to solicit more support from GOP senators.” McConnell had pushed for a vote before the July 4 recess to avoid media attention of lawmakers being attacked over the disastrous health care bill during town halls with constituents while on break.

All GOP senators invited to the White House at 4 pm et to talk health care with Trump,” Fox News congressional reporter Chad Pergram reports.

The Senate health care bill is so bad that after the Congressional Budget Office announced Monday afternoon it would force 22 million people to lose coverage, Republicans began to walk away from the legislation.

This is an exact repeat of what happened with the House bill. President Trump will plead and cajole Republicans at the White House, and at some point in the next 24 hours or so he will likely begin to attack holdouts by name, while blaming Democrats for “obstruction.”
