‘Beneath the Office’: Some Republicans Criticize Trump’s Attack on Female Journalist, Most Refuse or Ignore
Ted Cruz: ‘I Don’t Comment About Tweets”
In the four hours or so since President Donald Trump attacked MSNBC journalist Mika Brzezinski, some Republicans Senators and Congressmen have criticized the President, but most have refused to or merely ignored it.
Senator Ted Cruz refused top condemn President trump, saying, “I don’t comment about tweets. I’ll discuss substance and policy but on tweets I’ve got nothing to say.”Â
The White House has said the President’s tweets are official White House statements.
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan was asked about Trump’s attack during a press conference Thursday morning.Â
“Obviously I don’t see that as an appropriate comment,” Ryan said. “Look, what we’re trying to do around here is improve the tone, the civility of the debates.”

It does not appear Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has reacted to Trump’s tweets.
The Republican Senator from South Dakota, Mike Rounds, offered only a gentle reminder to the President:

Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine, who is often a deciding vote on controversial legislation, called Trump’s tweets “completely inappropriate.”Â

Republican Senator Orrin Hatch just yesterday penned an op-ed in TIME magazine titled, “I Am Re-Committing to Civility.” Yet he would not denounce Trump’s tweets. CNBC’s Kayla Tausche reports Hatch said: “Every once in awhile you get a dipsy-doodle!”

GOPer’s Lindsey Graham and Ben Sasse:
Mr. President, your tweet was beneath the office and represents what is wrong with American politics, not the greatness of America.

Please just stop. This isn’t normal and it’s beneath the dignity of your office.
