Spicer Will Not Conduct On-Camera White House Press Briefing Day After Greatest Trump Administration Crisis

Spicer to Hold Off-Camera Briefing Later

Press Secretary Sean Spicer will not hold Tuesday’s White House daily press briefing, the day after the Trump administration’s greatest crisis to date. Instead, National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster will hold today’s on-camera press briefing at 11:30 AM.

McMaster read a short statement Monday evening denouncing as false the Washington Post’s bombshell report that states President Donald Trump revealed “code word” highly classified intelligence secrets to the Russians last week in the Oval Office. Barely 12 hours later President Trump took to Twitter, throwing his national security team under the bus by essentially nullifying McMaster’s remarks by saying he has every right to reveal classified information and did so for “humanitarian” reasons.

Spicer instead Tuesday afternoon will now hold an off-camera 2:00 PM briefing with the White House press pool. It’s not known if audio of that event will be made available, although reporters might secretly broadcast it live, or later release audio clips.

Regardless, on one of the most important days of this administration’s short tenure, it’s startling the daily press briefing will not be conducted in its regular on-air public form by the Press Secretary, especially since the Trump White House daily press briefings have become “must see TV” for many Americans.
