White House on North Korea’s Missile Test (Not SNL): ‘The President Cannot Imagine That Russia is Pleased’

Mentions Russia Before U.S.

Following North Korea’s latest missile test on Sunday, the White House released its official response, raising Donald Trump’s concerns for Russia prior to mentioning the United States.

The launch of the intermediate-range ballistic missile, which flew over 430 miles prior to landing in the sea between North Korea and Japan, is its first since the election of Moon Jae-in in South Korea.

“The President has been briefed on the latest missile test by North Korea,” the official statement begins. “With the missile impacting so close to Russian soil – in fact, closer to Russia than to Japan – the President cannot imagine that Russia is pleased.”

“North Korea has been a flagrant menace for too long. South Korea and Japan have been watching this situation closely with us,” it continued after citing Donald Trump’s thoughts on Russia, before finally turning to domestic thoughts. “The United States maintains our ironclad commitment to stand with our allies in the face of the serious threat posed by North Korea.”

“Let this latest provocation serve as a call for all nations to implement far stronger sanctions against North Korea,” it concludes.

The statement was not written by the cast of Saturday Night Live, and can be seen below:
