WATCH LIVE: Donald Trump Speaks to 50 Leaders from Muslim Countries

Expected to Avoid Using ‘Radical Islamic Terrorism’

Donald Trump is scheduled to speak to 50 leaders from Muslim countries this morning at the Arab Islamic American Summit during his first overseas trip as president.

As The New York Times points out, Trump – who previously advised that “Islam hates us” during the presidential campaign and proposed a Muslim ban, is expected to use a much softer tone during his first speech abroad.

“This is not a battle between different faiths, different sects, or different civilizations,” speech excerpts released from the White House read. “This is a battle between barbaric criminals who seek to obliterate human life, and decent people of all religions who seek to protect it. This is a battle between good and evil.”

Trump, who is known for criticizing former President Barack Obama and other leaders for not using “radical Islamic terrorism,” is expected to use the term “Islamist extremism.”
