WATCH: Acting FBI Director Just Totally Contradicted White House Claim Rank-And-File Did Not Support Comey

‘Director Comey Enjoyed Broad Support Within the FBI’

The Acting Director of the FBI just contradicted a main component of the White House’s claim that Jim Comey had lost the confidence of the Bureau’s rank-and-file. Speaking in sworn testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee Andrew McCabe Thursday morning told Senators Director Comey had “broad support within the FBI, and still does.”

He said the “vast majority of FBI employees enjoyed a deep and positive connection” with Comey, and added it is “not accurate” to say the FBI rank-and-file did not support Comey.

McCabe said he holds Comey in the highest regard, “and it has been the greatest privilege and honor” of his “professional life tom work with him.”

On Wednesday afternoon, White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters “most importantly, the rank and file of the FBI had lost confidence in their director.” She went on to accuse Comey of committing “atrocities.”

Director McCabe’s comments directly contradict those charges.
