Twitter Mocks Sean Spicer for Announcing Trump’s Lawyer Will Send ‘A Certified Letter’ Saying He Has No Ties to Russia

‘He Has Already Charged a Leading Law Firm in Washington, D.C. To Send a Certified Letter to Senator Graham’

For nearly a year – really, for years – rumors have been flying that Donald Trump has inappropriate and undisclosed ties to Russia. They were fueled by statements Trump and his family members made before he entered the presidential race, and fueled by statements he and his family made after he entered the presidential race. Those rumors exploded as Trump refused to make one negative remark about Vladimir Putin, they exploded when Trump called on Russia to hack Hillary Clinton’s emails, exploded when Trump ally and former advisor Roger Stone announced Wikileaks would deliver an amazing October surprise that would change the race, exploded when it became clear that Trump associates – including Paul Manafort, Carter Page, Mike Flynn, Jared Kushner, J.D. Gordon, and Roger Stone – have ties of some form or another to Russia, exploded when Trump refused to fire Mike Flynn – despite his ties to Russia, and exploded when Trump repeatedly refused to release his tax returns.

Trump once claimed he and Vladimir Putin were good friends, had bonded in the green room during the taping of a “60 Minutes” episode even though they were taped on separate continents and that never, ever happened.

The list goes on and on and on.

Is there collusion between Trump – or his family, or business associates, or campaign associates, or transition team associates, or White House associates – and Russia? We don’t know, but there sure area lot of red flags (no pun intended.)

Earlier Tuesday Senator Lindsey Graham said that while he has no knowledge or evidence of collusion between Trump and the Russians, or any inappropriate business dealings, he would like to see any if it exists.

On Tuesday afternoon, Press Secretary Sean Spicer announced a way to get all these (and so many more) rumors and accusations behind this White House.

“The President, obviously, was aware of Sen. Graham’s suggestion after he made it today and he’s fine with that,” Spicer told reporters during the daily briefing. “He has no business in Russia. He has no connections to Russia. So he welcomes that.”

“In fact, he has already charged a leading law firm in Washington, D.C. to send a certified letter to Senator Graham to that point, that he has no connections to Russia,” Spicer added. “So that should be a really easy look.”

Very quickly Twitter began to mock Spicer and Trump for suggesting that sending a certified letter would shed any light on the facts or would resolve this disaster.
