Seven-Term Conservative GOP Congressman Admits ObamaCare Repeal ‘A Pipe Dream From the Very Start’

Freedom Caucus’ Mark Sanford Gets Real

U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford (R-SC) says repealing ObamaCare has always been just a fantasy. The conservative Republican congressman, who in between his House terms served for eight years as the governor of South Carolina, made the stunning admission Tuesday to Vice News.

In an interview with Alexandra Jaffe, Rep. Sanford, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, said “full repeal” of ObamaCare “was, in essence, a pipe dream from the very start.”

In a series of tweets, Jaffe says Sanford told her chances of passing the GOP plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare with the Republicans’ American Health Care Act are “dim.” She says Sanford compared repeal of ObamaCare to the 1994 Republican Revolution, in which House Republicans picked up 54 seats. He called it “false advertising from the start.”

And she says Sanford warns Republicans could lose the House and the Senate, thanks to Trump:

Sounds like some real straight talk.
