Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Trump-Russia Investigation: ‘My Gosh, When Are They Going to Let That Go?’

73 Percent of Americans Want an Independent Commission to Investigate Trump-Russia

White House Deputy Spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders is calling the investigations into the Trump administration’s ties to Russia and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian officials “absurd.”

Sanders went on Fox News Tuesday night to discuss the state of the congressional and FBI investigations into Trump and Russia in the wake of the firing of Bureau Director Jim Comey.

“You’ve still got the same people that would be carrying out [the FBI investigation], whether it’s through the Department of Justice – that process continues, both, I believe, in the House and Senate committees, and I don’t see any change or disruption there,” Sanders told Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

But I think the bigger point on that is, my gosh, Tucker, when are they going to let that go?” she said, presumably of Democrats. “It’s been going on for nearly a year. Frankly, it’s kind of getting absurd. There’s nothing there. We’ve heard that time and time again. We heard it in the testimonies earlier this week. We’ve heard it for the last eleven months. There is no there, there,” Sanders insisted. The Trump administration has refused to fully co-operate with investigations and could move forward if it stopped stonewalling.

Sanders is wrong. In testimonies this week the Senate was told by Sally Yates and James Clapper they could not publicly comment on collusion because it’s classified.

“It’s time to move on,” Sanders continued, “and frankly, it’s time to focus on the things the American people care about. They’re not worried about this false narrative that the media continues to want to drive.”

That’s also false. 73 percent of Americans want an independent commission to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 election, including what contacts Russia had with the Trump team. The majority of American want Congress to fully investigate also.

Sanders claimed Americans instead of investigation into Russia and Trump “want to know about the economy, they want to know about education, they want to talk about national security. That’s what our administration is trying to focus on and that’s frankly I think what the rest of the country is ready for the media start focusing on as well.”
