Morning Briefing: 5 Things for Memorial Day Monday – He’s Back…

Here’s What You Need to Start Your Day

Good Morning!

Here are five things you need to know for today:

  • On this and every Memorial Day, we honor those who bravely gave their lives while serving in America’s armed forces, protecting our democracy and freedoms. For many it is a solemn day, and it’s an important opportunity to remember the nearly 7000 armed services members who died during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s also an important opportunity to remind ourselves that veterans die by suicide at the staggering rate of at least 20 each day, on average, the Washington Post reports, citing the latest study.
  • President Donald Trump posted this tweet a few minutes ago:

  • The President returned from his first overseas trip Saturday night. Like an addict needing a fix he’s been tweeting up a storm ever since.
  • At 10:55 AM EDT President Trump will deliver remarks at a wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. You can watch live here:

  • Today also marks President John F. Kennedy’s 100 birthday.
