Documents Related to Russia Probe
Lt. General Mike Flynn will refuse a Senate subpoena to provide documents related to its Russia investigation and later today will invoke is Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination, according to the Associated Press. The Senate Intelligence Committee nearly two weeks ago had requested documents via subpoena.
“Legal experts have said Flynn was unlikely to turn over the personal documents without immunity because he would be waiving some of his constitutional protections by doing so,” the AP notes. “Flynn has previously sought immunity from ‘unfair prosecution’ to cooperate with the committee.”
Late last week Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-NC) had told reporters that Flynn’s attorneys had already told the committee he would not be complying with the subpoena. He later walked that statement back.
In September of 2016 on “Meet the Press” Mike Flynn said (video above):Â “When you’re given immunity, that means you probably committed a crime.”
