Majority of Americans Wish Obama Was Still President

Majority Also Believe Trump Is a Liar

The majority of Americans wish Barack Obama was still president, nearly four months after Donald Trump was sworn in. 55 percent of voters prefer Obama to Trump, according to a new poll by Public Policy Polling. Just 39 percent want to stick with Trump. And similarly, a plurality of Americans, 49 percent, wish Hillary Clinton were president today, instead of Trump. Obama has a 16-point spread over Trump, Clinton holds an 8-point spread.

Meanwhile, nearly half of Americans, 48%, say that want President Trump impeached. This is the first time in PPP’s polling the number of Americans who want Trump impeached has surpassed the number of Americans who don’t (41%).

One thing hurting Trump is that Americans expect honesty from their President and his aides, and they feel like they’re not getting it,” PPP notes. “Last week Trump tweeted that it was unreasonable to expect his press staff to always tell the truth, but 77% of voters say they do expect the President’s Press Secretaries to tell the truth all the time compared to only 14% who say that isn’t that expectation. Only 38% of voters say they consider Trump to be honest, to 55% who say they don’t think he is. And a majority of voters (51%) outright say they consider Trump to be a liar to 41% who say they disagree with that characterization.”

More than six out of ten voters (62%) say they want Trump to release his tax returns.

And finally, failure.

When it comes down to it voters don’t think Trump has delivered on the core promise of his campaign- just 34% think he has ‘Made America Great Again,’ while 55% think he has not.”

PPP is known for its sometimes amusing questions, and chatty presence on social media. Earlier today they posted this tweet:
