A Frightened Trump Tweets Attacks on Obama, Sally Yates, and the ‘Fake News’ Media Over Mike Flynn

‘The Fake News Seldom Likes Talking About That’

President Donald Trump, clearly frightened about the impending testimony from his fired Acting Attorney General Sally Yates this afternoon, tweeted attacks on what he calls the “fake news” media, Yates herself, and former President Barack Obama Monday morning.

Yates in late January told the Trump White House, and possibly the president himself, that Mike Flynn was possibly compromised by Russia and vulnerable to Russian blackmail. Flynn had advised Trump on national security during the campaign and Trump, over the outrage of many, made him his official National Security Advisor. Three weeks later Flynn resigned – according to the White House, which later said Trump fired him – not because of his activities with Russia, but because he allegedly lied to the vice president.

President Barack Obama fired Mike Flynn and yet Trump still hired him, and allowed him access to top national security, and presumably highly-classified, information.

There’s a difference between having a security clearance, and being given access. It appears the Trump administration did run a background check on Flynn, and yet –despite knowing his ties to Russia and Turkey – and yet gave him full access.

While Flynn was advising Trump he was also being paid, more than a half-milion dollars, to lobby for Turkish officials.

Trump’s tweets this morning is an exercise in thinking the American people are stupid and ill-informed.

Update: two-and-a-half hours later, Trump deletes original tweet to fix spelling:

We are neither.

Trump will now try to discredit Yates, and ugly and challenging move, and the mark of a misogynist who’s being backed into a corner.
