‘A #Jew and a #Communist’: Conservative Game Show Host Accused of Anti-Semitism After Two-Day Twitter Rant
Chuck Woolery: ‘Not to Stir the Pot but, #BernieSanders Is a #Jew and a #Communist’
Chuck Woolery, best known as the TV game show host of “Wheel of Fortune” and “Love Connection” in the ’70’s and 80’s has been working hard to make a name for himself as a far right wing Christian conservative. This week he may have succeeded.
Woolery, an anti-gun control activist, has also made his anti-Islam views well-known. Now some are accusing him of anti-Semitism.
On Monday, Memorial Day, Woolery posted tweets saying “members of the left are mentally ill and in need of help,” and, “Now that we don’t have a socialistMarxist [sic] in office as president, all of Europe seems to be confused. Germany, France, Britain to name a few.”
And this absolutely false claim: “Almost without exception, all political ideology of the Left originated in Germany. Progressivism Political correctness Marxism. You name it.”
And then these tweets, which led some to accuse him of anti-Semitism:
Believe it or not. Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin were both Jewish. I was shocked to find, most of the original Soviet Communists were Jewish
— Chuck Woolery (@chuckwoolery) May 29, 2017
When Stalin came to power in the USSR, he begin to purge all the Jews from the communist Party and Punish, in Prison them and kill them
— Chuck Woolery (@chuckwoolery) May 29, 2017
Hours later, this:
Amazing to me, I point out that Marx and Lenin were Jewish, Fact of history, and now I’m being called anti Semitic? why do people do this?
— Chuck Woolery (@chuckwoolery) May 30, 2017
And then on Tuesday:
I am an Islamophob,I am against SocialistLiberalProgressiveism.I am against Communism, But I am not an antisemite by any means. So stick it
— Chuck Woolery (@chuckwoolery) May 30, 2017
Not to stir the pot but, #BernieSanders is a #Jew and a #Communist. Am I incorrect or does this make me an antisemite as well? Another Fact.
— Chuck Woolery (@chuckwoolery) May 30, 2017
Can’t get my head around being pro Israel and being called an antisemite just for pointing out historical facts. Not my fault. It’s history
— Chuck Woolery (@chuckwoolery) May 30, 2017
The Nazi party was called? The #DemocraticSocialist Workers Party. So #Bernie calls himself a DemocratSocialist. Right? Am I confused or what
— Chuck Woolery (@chuckwoolery) May 30, 2017
America was founded on Christian Principles. IT’s why the Left hates it so much.

Socialism is the gateway drug to communism.
— Chuck Woolery (@chuckwoolery) May 30, 2017
Early Tuesday Newsweek reported Woolery told “FOXBusiness earlier in May that his politics stopped him getting work,” and, “he added his observation the ‘left is really operating on all German ideas instead of American ideas.’ While this could be a reference to the moral philosophy of Enlightenment-era Immanuel Kant, it far more likely an allusion to Adolf Hitler.”
It is unclear why Woolery chose Memorial Day to expound on his theories about Judaism and socialism. Those theories, such as they are, are neither new nor correct. Karl Marx, the principal author of The Communist Manifesto, was Jewish, but his forebears’ religion played no known role in the formation of his world-changing theories of history, social organization and the interactions between capital and labor.
Some responses to Woolery’s tweets via Twitter:Â

Believe it or not. Chuck Woolery is a noxious anti-Semite who also doesn’t even bother to google his factually incorrect anti-Semitism. https://t.co/YlXFLtrzit
