White House: Jon Ossoff Coming in First in Solid GOP District Is ‘A Big Loss’ for Democrats (Video)

Stunning Hypocrisy

The Trump White House’s hypocrisy is stunning. President Donald Trump lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton by nearly 3 million votes, and won the Electoral College thanks to about 70,000 votes across three states. But now his press secretary insists that Tuesday’s special congressional election, in which Georgia Democrat Jon Ossoff came in first, “was a big loss” for Democrats.

Ossoff was one of 18 candidates running, won 48.1% of the vote in a deep-South district that has been solidly Republican for decades. Newt Gingrich came from this district.

Spicer later during Wednesday’s press conference revisited the issue, insisting it is a “loss” because Democrats announced they wanted to win. Most candidates who run form office want to win, that’s generally a given.

Was it also a “big loss” for Karen Handel, a seasoned Republican candidate who has far more experience in politics than Ossoff?

Not according to President Trump:

Handel won just 19.8%, but in Trump’s eyes, that’s a “BIG” win.

In this special election to fill the seat vacated by Tom Price, now the HHS Secretary, 50% or more was needed to win. There will now be a run-off between Ossoff and Handel.

The Trump White House’s hypocrisy is stunning.
