UN Ambassador Nikki Haley Threatens Additional Strikes Against Syria (Video)
‘We Are Prepared to Do More’
U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley Friday afternoon threatened additional military actions against the Syrian regime of President Bashar al-Assad. The Republican former South Carolina governor also placed blame for the chemical weapons attack on Syrian civilians on Iran and Russia.
“The United States took a very measured step last night,” Ambassador Haley told the United Nations Security Council Friday afternoon, referring to President Trump ordering the use of 59 Tomahawk missiles to destroy a Syrian military airbase. “We are prepared to do more, but we hope that will not be necessary,” she threatened.
“It is time for all civilized nations to stop the horrors that are taking place in Syria and demand a political solution,” Haley concluded.
The Ambassador also went after Iran and Russia, arguing they are both complicit in Assad’s use of chemical nerve agents on his own citizens. She especially targeted Putin’s Russia, reminding the world body that an agreement between the United States and Russia in 2013 stopped U.S. military action against Syria for prior use of chemical weapons in exchange for Assad allowing Russia to come in and ensure all chemical weapons were destroyed.Â

Haley argued that either Russia intentionally allowed Assad to retain and use chemical weapons, or they were sloppy when guaranteeing they had removed them all.
