It’s an Important Day for Trump So Naturally He Begins With a Twitter Rant Lying About 9th Circuit Judges

Lies and Just Totally False Statements. It’s Embarrassing.

Today is a big day for President Donald Trump and his administration. Out of desperation he is revealing his new tax plan, a vital component of his entire political legacy. When Republicans talk about Ronald Reagan, usually they talk about how great he was at cutting taxes. (It’s a false narrative, he raised them more than cut them, but that’s his legacy.)

So how does President Trump get Americans focused? How does this supposed “great communicator” begin his day? What does he kick off the national conversation with? A Twitter rant, lying about 9th Circuit judges.

Worse, the judge he’s mad at doesn’t even sit on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

President Trump is apparently furious that on Tuesday afternoon a federal district judge blocked his executive order defunding sanctuary cities. The judge said it likely was unconstitutional, like other executive orders Trump has signed and had blocked.

“First the Ninth Circuit rules against the ban & now it hits again on sanctuary cities-both ridiculous rulings. See you in the Supreme Court!” Trump tweeted this morning.

It’s embarrassing that the President doesn’t even know what judge it was and that his next step is not the Supreme Court. Theoretically he could try, but chance are they’d refuse to intervene, and probably secretly laugh at him while doing it.

“Out of our very big country, with many choices, does everyone notice that both the ‘ban’ case and now the ‘sanctuary’ case is brought in … the Ninth Circuit, which has a terrible record of being overturned (close to 80%). They used to call this ‘judge shopping!’ Messy system.”

Again, wrong on all counts.

It’s not “judge shopping.” The cases were brought by San Francisco and Santa Clara County. They don’t have a choice of judges. The City of San Francisco, for example, can’t file its lawsuit in, say, Texas.

And Trump is totally lying about the 9th Circuit’s record.

80% of their cases are not overturned. He’s literally claiming that 4 out of every five cases the 9th Circuit rules on gets overturned by the Supreme Court.

The facts are that out of the very few (less than 1%) 9th Circuit cases the Supreme Court accepts for review, 79% are overturned. If you think that’s high, it’s not. 85% of the 11th Circuit cases accepted for review are overturned, and 87% of the 6th Circuit’s cases accepted for review are overturned.

Maybe Trump is getting his news from Sean Hannity and/or the so-calledstupidest man on the internet.”
