Dianne Feinstein Announces Vote Against Gorsuch

Delivers Scathing Rebuke, Gorsuch Likely Will Not Have 60 Votes

U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), the Ranking member on the Judiciary Committee has just announced she is voting against Judge Neil Gorsuch, President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee. Citing Gorsuch’s extremely narrow rulings on two cases, and his repeated refusal to directly answer questions, Feinstein delivered a scathing rebuke of the 10th Circuit Court judge.

“Gorsuch’s answers were so diluted with ambiguity, one could not see where he stood, even on big and long-settled cases,” Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Committee, and the oldest currently serving Senator, said at one point.

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT: Feinstein becomes 8th Democrat to announce they will vote no on Gorsuch, meaning Republicans will likely “go nuclear,” by changing the rules to ram through Gorsuch’s confirmation.

The Judiciary Committee is comprised of 11 Republicans and nine Democrats. A simple majority is needed to advance Gorsuch out of committee to the full Senate. The vote will come Monday afternoon.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch mcConnell has not only threatened to invoke the nuclear option, but is blaming Democrats for the decision.
