After Visiting Trump in the White House Ted Nugent Puts Himself in Same Category as Rosa Parks

‘Geronimo, Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, Cochise, Chesty Puller, General Patton, Rosa Parks, and Me’

In a Facebook Live video Thursday afternoon Ted Nugent rambled on about his visit to the White House at the invitation of President Donald Trump. The 68-year old rocker and gun activist sat down to dinner with the president and two other guests of note: Sarah Palin and Kid Rock. Both Palin and Nugent posted photos to Facebook.

Nugent of course is one of the most offensive characters ever allowed inside the Oval Office.

ThinkProgress described Nugent as “a man who became the target of a Secret Service investigation after he said in 2012 that if President Obama were reelected, Nugent would ‘either be dead or in jail by this time next year.'”

Nugent’s 2012 comments about Obama — who he has called a “piece of shit” and a “subhuman mongrel” — are far from the only threat he’s made against prominent Democrats. As the Daily Beast chronicled, Nugent discussed shooting Harry Reid during the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting in 2015. In January 2016, he called for both Obama and Clinton to “be tried for treason & hung.” Nugent once called Clinton a “worthless bitch” and called for her to “ride one of these [guns] into the sunset.” He told Obama to “suck on my machine gun.”

In that Facebook Live video, Nugent, who in 2015 defended the word “n*gger,” and in the ’90’s defended apartheid, said:

“The dust has not settled yet in Washington, D.C., because an enormous, inescapable, overwhelming… hum, we the people, crowbar, swinging wildly, like Geronimo, Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, Cochise, Chesty Puller, General Patton, Rosa Parks, and me.”

It’s not exactly clear what all those he named have in common, although, with the exception of Chesty Puller, most are known for having stood up to the U.S. government or fought unjust laws.

It’s unclear what unjust laws Nugent thinks he has fought, although he sits on the board of directors of the NRA.
