‘Heil President Donald Trump!’: Trump-Supporting NY Tabloid Gets Hacked
‘Hear Me Now, for I Speak as an Angel in the Words of God’
The New York Post is one of two top NYC-based tabloids, and among the most-widely circulated newspapers in the country. Owned by Rupert Murdoch, the man who owns Fox News among many other media outlets around the world, the Post is solidly in Donald Trump’s corner. They publish stories most wouldn’t normally see anywhere else, like these:
“I voted for Hillary, but I’m almost happy that Trump won. It’s given me a new economic opportunity” https://t.co/bNBcM1On7u pic.twitter.com/dX5zRpsqT9
— New York Post (@nypost) March 12, 2017
Op-ed: The New York Times’ ongoing dishonesty only helps Trump https://t.co/fFYTOAx7RF pic.twitter.com/KcyLzGevsg
— New York Post (@nypost) March 28, 2017
Op-ed: Donald Trump has done more to stop illegal immigration than any of his predecessors https://t.co/yF3Bl5KA3Z

So when the Post’s mobile app was hacked Saturday night, one almost has to wonder, how many noticed? After all, the first alert read, “Heil President Donald Trump!”
@AP To be fair, I wouldn’t be surprised if the NY Post app sent such notifs even WITHOUT being hacked.

But as more alerts came across uses’ cell phones, it was obvious something was wrong.
“Hear me now, for I speak as an angel in the words of God,” read the next alert. “In casting truth into the darkness of your shadow, you have gravely sinned,†read another.

The Hill notes one of the alerts included a (misquoted) line from Nirvana’s “Come As You Are.”
The Post soon apologized, saying their system had been “compromised.”

Disgustingly, not everyone was upset:
NY Post app hacked, message sent declaring, ‘Heil President’.
What’s so bad about that? ðŸ¸ðŸ‘ŒðŸ» pic.twitter.com/NryFzuAiHL

(In case you were wondering, Pepe the Frog has become the symbol for white supremacists, white nationalists, and neo-Nazis.)
