WATCH: Trump Falsely Says if FBI Director Hadn’t Been ‘Very Good’ to Clinton ‘She Would Be Going to Trial’ Now

‘He Saved Her Life’ POTUS Says in a Lie

President Donald Trump Wednesday morning said Hillary Clinton “was guilty of every charge” FBI Director Jim Comey read last year when he publicly announced he would not recommend prosecution of the former Secretary of State. Trump, who on stage at a debate with the Democratic presidential candidate promised he would send her to jail if he won the White House, claimed Director Comey “saved her life” and insisted if he hadn’t been “very, very good” to her, Hillary Clinton “would be, right now, going to trial” now.

The President made the remarks in an interview on Fox News Business to host Maria Bartiromo.

None of what the president said in that exchange is true.

First of all, the FBI does not and cannot establish guilt or innocence. That is the job of a judge, or judge and jury.

Second, Director Comey made very clear that there was no precedent to charge Clinton, and “no reasonable prosecutor” would have.
