WATCH: Jeff Sessions Issues On-Camera Carefully-Worded Denial

Many Are Calling Sessions’ Under-Oath Answer Perjury

Jeff Sessions Thursday morning said on-camera that he did not discuss the presidential campaign with Russian officials. Unfortunately for the Attorney General, that’s an answer to the wrong question, and it seems clear his job is on the line.

“I have not met with any Russians at any time to discuss any political campaign,” Sessions told NBC News.

Sessions came under fire late Wednesday night after The Washington Post revealed he met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak twice during the presidential campaign last year. During his confirmation hearing, Democratic Sen. Al Franken asked if Session knew of anyone associated with the campaign had any contact with Russian officials. Sessions said he did not, despite having met with Kislyak, considered a top Russian spy, himself, twice.

Sessions response Thursday morning includes the phrase, “to discuss any political campaign,” but that’s not what Franken asked. Franken didn’t ask if anyone met to discuss the campaign. Sessions is going to claim he thought that’s what the question was, in order to slip out of perjury charges.

And many are calling it perjury. Others say perjury would be hard to prove. Democrats are callling for Sessions to resign.

There’s no question his career is in jeopardy. But Trump has proven to be extremely loyal to a fault. Will he give up his Attorney General?
