Trump Finally Comments on Sessions Scandal

Sessions Has Denied All Reports, Despite There Being Both Video and a Written Letter From Him

Since Wednesday night the nation has been increasingly consumed by news from The Washington Post that Attorney General Jeff Sessions apparently lied while under oath when speaking about conversations with Russian officials during his confirmation hearing.

Sessions has denied all reports, despite there being both video and a written letter from him.

If Sessions did lie the FBI could investigate and even recommend charges for perjury. It is a felony to lie to Congress while under oath.

Amid more than 60 lawmakers calling for Sessions to either recuse himself from investigations into Russia, or to resign, President Donald Trump has been traveling to a campaign-style event on a Navy carrier in Virginia.

Asked by a reporter aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford if he still has confidence in Attorney General Sessions, the President replied with one word: “total.”

Asked if he thinks Sessions testified truthfully, Trump told reporters, “I think he probably did.”
