Trump Already Fundraising Off New Muslim Ban

New Survey Shows Half of Americans Want Trump to Drop Muslim Ban

The ink barely dry on his new Muslim ban, President Donald Trump is actually fundraising off the executive order. Politico’s national political reporter Gabriel Debenedetti and CNN’s Teddy Schleifer both posted to Twitter screenshots of a fundraising email. Debenedetti notes the email is signed by President Trump.

Stunningly, as Buzzfeed’s Chris Geidner points out, after spending weeks in court insisting his ban was not a Muslim ban, and reworking the ban to appear it is agnostic on religion, the fundraiser highlights its target: “radical Islamic terrorism.”

“Because you care about keeping America safe, I want you to be the first to know that I just signed a NEW Executive Order on immigration,” the email begins. “I will NEVER stop fighting until we implement the policies you — and millions of Americans like you — voted for.

While “millions” may support Trump’s Muslim ban, a new just released Monmouth University poll finds that “38% of people thought the president should come up with a new travel ban.” Half of those surveyed believe the president should move on from the idea entirely.

Only 39 percent said they supported Trump’s original travel ban, while 49 percent opposed it.

The President also posted to his campaign’s Facebook page a photo of him signing the executive order:

Trump also sent fundraising emails out just before he went on camera during his first address to congress last week:

On Friday, The Daily Beast reported Trump is being accused by two watchddog groups of illegal fundraising practices.
