‘Happily Talk Re: My Contact W Mr. Putin & His Associates … Would You & Your Team?’
Senator Chuck Schumer is fighting back after President Donald Trump late Friday morning tweeted a 2003 AP photo of Senator Chuck Schumer with Vladimir Putin in New York. The photo shows the two political leaders having donuts and coffee while celebrating the opening of Russia’s first gas station in the Empire State. Trump tweeted, “We should start an immediate investigation into @SenSchumer and his ties to Russia and Putin. A total hypocrite!”
Now Schumer is pushing back – and winning.
The Senate Democratic Leader responded to Trump’s juvenile tweet by saying he would “happily” talk about his contact with Vladimir Putin and his associates, adding that the conversation “took place in ’03 in full view of press & public under oath. Would you &your team?”
At least five and likely more Trump campaign and Trump, Inc. associates have had conversations with Russian officials that they have sought fit to hide. Trump expressed fury Thursday night over the scandal involving his new Attorney General, who is accused of lying while under oath about his conversations with the Russian Ambassador.
