Schiff: ‘More Than Circumstantial Evidence Now’ of Collusion Between Trump Team and Russia (Video)
‘There Is Evidence That Is Not Circumstantial and Very Much Worthy of Investigation’
Democratic Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Adam Schiff late Wednesday afternoon said there is more than circumstantial evidence of collusion between the Trump team and Russia. Schiff, speaking to MSNBC’s Chuck Todd, went one step further in his RussiaGate comments than he had on “Meet the Press” this past weekend. On Sunday Rep. Schiff had said there was circumstantial evidence of collusion and “direct evidence†of deception.
“I can tell you that the case is more than that,” Schiff told “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd, who had asked if his case showing collusion between the Trump team and Russia is only circumstantial.
“I can’t go in to the particulars but there is more than circumstantial evidence now,” Schiff said.
“You have seen direct evidence of collusion?” Todd pressed.
“I don’t want to go into specifics but I will say that there is evidence that is not circumstantial and very much worthy of investigation” Schiff said, in a historic charge.
Congressman Schiff was turning up the heat after the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), told reporters he was disturbed that U.S. Intelligence agencies had “unmasked” the names of U.S. citizens caught up in lawful surveillance of foreign persons.
Nunes’ actions, which included two press conferences and a meeting to share what he had found directly with President Donald Trump, are unprecedented. Congressman Schiff, a former federal prosecutor, publicly urged Nunes to decide if he is going to work to protect the American people or work as “a surrogate of the White House.”

Schiff is no stranger to this type of investigation. He is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney who successfully prosecuted a case against a former FBI agent convicted of passing documents off to the Soviet Union.
