Report Projects How Many People May Die Under TrumpCare

In Just the First Year: 17,000

According to a just-published report by ThinkProgress, under TrumpCare 17,000 people could die in the first year alone. To come to that estimate ThinkProgress editor Ian Millhiser explains he took the number of people projected to lose health care coverage under the Republican plan, an additional 14 million more people, and the number from a Massachusetts study that found “for every 830 adults gaining insurance coverage there was one fewer death per year.”

By 2026, that number rises to “approximately 29,000 in that year alone.” Frankly, probably more, given the length of time those people were without health care.

It’s a simple projection and obviously it’s not possible to be accurate with just these two data points but it’s a fair estimation.

17,000.

Or, think about it this way. Remember Republican hysteria over Ebola? Despite every precaution and everything we knew, conservatives lived in mortal terror even before there was just one case in the U.S And then they blamed President Barack Obama for it.

If Ebola – or ISIS – were projected to kill 17,000 Americans in one year, you can rest assured Republicans would be spending a fortune to prevent it.

This isn’t a health care plan, it’s a tax reduction for the rich plan.
