Comet Ping Pong Gunman Pleads Guilty
PizzaGate “true believers” rallied at the White House on Saturday, demanding an investigation into their bogus conspiracy theory involving a child sex-trafficking ring, Democratic Party officials and numerous restaurants.
The rally came one day after far-right radio host Alex Jones of InfoWars apologized for his role in spreading the conspiracy theory, which inspired a gunman to fire an AR-15 rifle at Comet Ping Pong, a pizza restaurant in Washington, D.C., in December.Â
Also Friday, the gunman — 28-year-old Edgar Welch — pleaded guilty to two charges in connection with the shooting. Welch told police he wanted to “self-investigate” the fake news story and felt he was doing a public service.Â
During Saturday’s rally, one PizzaGate believer reportedly was arrested after snatching a microphone from another man who was part of a nearby “Make America Great Again” event for veterans in support of President Donald Trump.Â
