Oprah for President?
Oprah Winfrey says Donald Trump has totally changed her thoughts about running for and serving as president. Before Trump, the media mogul who has been ranked the most influential woman in the world, said she didn’t feel she had the experience and didn’t know enough to be president.
But that’s changed now.
“Have you ever thought that, given the popularity you have — we haven’t broken the glass ceiling yet for women — that you could actually run for president and actually be elected?” Bloomberg’s David Rubenstein asked Winfrey.
She paused.
“I never considered the question, even a possibility,” she said, noting that being asked the question made her think about it.
“I just thought – ‘Oh… oh?'”
“Because,” Rubenstein continued, “it’s clear you don’t need government experience to be elected president of the United States.”Â
“That’s what I thought,” Winfrey said. “I thought, ‘Oh gee, I don’t have the experience, I don’t know enough’… And now I’m thinking — ‘Oh.'”
If there’s one thing Democrats need to learn in the age of Trump it’s that Americans respond to people who can communicate to them on an emotional level. We are now living in a world where policy doesn’t seem to matter – how a candidate makes voters feel apparently is all that does.
