Now or Never: A Nearly Impotent President Trump Delivers Ultimatum to Republicans on Repealing Popular ObamaCare

Donald Trump Has Failed at the Very Promise Central to His Campaign

This is where we are right now.

An impotent President Donald Trump, whose approval rating is just 37%, whose team is under counterintelligence investigation for collusion with Russia, who has been wholly unable to fulfill the very core tenet of his claim to be qualified to run the nation, is now threatening a very unpopular Republican Congress to vote and repeal an increasingly popular health care plan that has saved lives and given millions of Americans access to health care.

President Trump, via his Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and Chief White House Strategist Steve Bannon, has told the Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, and House Republican leadership they must vote on a devastatingly dangerous bill that will repeal and “replace” ObamaCare on Friday, or else.

The “or else”?

If they don’t pass the bill, the American Health Care Act, on Friday, he will not sign any other ObamaCare repeal and replace legislation.

This is the “Art of the Deal”?

The President has just given House Republicans the out they need.

The vast majority of Americans do not want ObamaCare repealed. They like it tweaked, but they’d rather it just be left alone, thank you very much.

Two months in to his presidency and Donald Trump has failed at the very promise central to his campaign: he would “repeal and replace” ObamaCare on Day One.
