New Poll Says Majority of Voters Believe Jeff Sessions Lied and Needs to Resign
Most Americans Probably Feeling Same Way You Are About Trump, Sessions, Russia, ObamaCare…
Democrats should not be feeling hopeless or alone in this new age of Trump. A just-released Quinnipiac poll finds the majority of Americans are probably feeling the way they are on current issues, including that Attorney General Jeff Sessions lied under oath and should resign. Democrats who are opposed to Donald Trump and how he is handling America’s policy toward Russia, along with his relationship with Russia, are in good company.
Also polled are questions about ObamaCare, immigration, and transgender people’s basic rights – with usual liberal values strongly ahead of conservatives’.
JEFF SESSIONS:
“American voters say 52 – 40 percent that U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions lied under oath during his confirmation hearings and say 51 – 42 percent that he should resign,” Quinnipiac reports.
“The gavel comes down hard on Attorney General Jeff Sessions,” Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll says in the release. “He lied and he should quit because of it, say Americans, who are clearly very concerned about the Russian affair and all the administration personnel involved with it.”
HEALTH CARE:
“American voters say 51 – 45 percent that Trump should not support efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA).”
Repeal parts of ObamaCare: 49%
Repeal none of ObamaCare: 27%
Repeal all of ObamaCare: 21%
“It is ‘very important’ that health insurance be affordable for all Americans, 84 percent of voters say, while 12 percent say it is ‘somewhat important.'”
IMMIGRATION:
63 percent of American voters support allowing undocumented immigrants to not only stay in the country but to be afforded a path to citizenship. Quinnipiac says this is “the highest level of support for this option since Quinnipiac University began asking the question in 2012.
TRANSGENDER STUDENTS:
Plurality, almost a majority, of voters support the right of trans students to use restrooms that correspond with their gender identity.
“Public schools should allow transgender students to use bathrooms and locker rooms consistent with their gender identity, 48 percent of voters say, with 45 percent opposed. There is a wide gender gap, as women support the idea 55 – 37 percent, with men opposed 54 – 39 percent.”
