‘They Contribute Differently to Our Culture and Civilization’ King Says

Republican Steve King is under fire from the left – though not from his fellow Republicans – for vile white nationalist comments he made Sunday: “We can’t restore our civilization with somebody else’s babies.” On CNN Monday morning, Congressman King, “I meant exactly what I said.”

“I’d like to see an America that’s just so homogenous that we look a lot the same,” King also told “New Day” host Chris Cuomo. “I think there’s been far too much focus on race, especially in the last eight years, and I want to see that put behind us.”

The Republican Congressman then went on to twist the essence of a conversation he had last summer, in which he implied white people in western civilization were superior to “other categories of people.”

“Where did any other subgroup of people contribute more to civilization?”

On “New Day” King accused “leftists” who disagree with him of trying to “break down the American civilization, the American culture, and turn it into something entirely different.”

When Cuomo pressed him on whether or not a Muslim Americans, Italian Americans, Christian Americans, Jewish Americans, “are all equal, that they are all the same thing – we don’t need babies from one of those groups more than we need them from other groups,” King could not agree.

Cuomo doubled down: “Either those are all equal things, or they are not.”

King’s response?

“I’d say they’re all created equal in the image of God,” King told Cuomo.

“They contribute differently to our culture and civilization. There are moderate Muslims that are equal in all these categories,” was the best he could muster, going after Muslims and not other peoples.

“Individuals will contribute differently, not equally to this civilization and society. Certain groups of people will do more from a productive side than other groups of people will. That’s just a statistical fact,” King claimed.

“A new study from the National Foundation for American Policy found a remarkable 83% (33 of 40) of the finalists of the 2016 Intel Science Talent Search were the children of immigrants,” Forbes reported this weekend.
