‘There Is a Disease Associated With the Notion That a Bunch of Women Would Wear Bad-Looking White Pantsuits’
A Republican U.S. Congressman who is considering a run to unseat Democratic Senator Heidi Heitkamp just made that goal a lot harder. Rep. Kevin Cramer of North Dakota Wednesday morning mocked Democratic Congresswomen and Senators who all wore white to President Donald Trump’s address Tuesday night, to show their support of women’s civil rights and to honor American suffragettes.
Rep. Cramer however, had a different take on what they were doing. He said that the women lawmakers all had a “disease” that made them want to wear “bad-looking white pantsuits” to honor Hillary Clinton’s loss.
As Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi tweeted hours before the President’s speech, that is false.
Cramer held a radio town hall Wednesday morning and responded to a constituent who told him that “Democrats were spinning a lot” over Trump’s speech, with this:
“But by the way, did you notice how poorly several of them were dressed as well?†Cramer asked the constituent, as Politico reported. “It is a syndrome. There is no question, there is a disease associated with the notion that a bunch of women would wear bad-looking white pantsuits in solidarity with Hillary Clinton to celebrate her loss. You cannot get that weird.â€
Pelosi had told MSNBC women were wearing white as “a statement of values. It associates ourselves with our suffragette mothers, the color of white, the color purple.”
