Breaking: Embattled Intel Chair Nunes Refuses to Recuse on Russia

Cover Up?

Republican House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, increasingly under attack after running to protect President Donald Trump rather than perform his required role of investigating and providing oversight, is now refusing growing calls to resign or recuse himself from investigations related to Russia and the Trump campaign, transition, and administration.

The Democrats on Nunes’ Intelligence Committee have called for him to recuse himself after his mysterious behavior and refusing to share information with anyone – even Republicans – on the Intel Committee. They also cite Nunes’ statement that he has a duty to protect President Trump, a stunning statement. Nunes is close to Trump and was on the trump transition team – which should automatically disqualify him from leading any investigation into anything Trump.

Asked if he will recuse himself, the Associated Press has just reported Rep. Nunes responded by asking, “Why would I?”

“I don’t think he can just recuse himself and still chair the committee,” Democratic Rep. Jackie Speier, who also sits on the Intel Committee, told CNN Tuesday morning. “I think that the writing is on the wall. It might make a good spy novel. It doesn’t make a good investigation.”
