Former Tea Party Congressman Handcuffed, Arrested by FBI for Allegedly Violating Federal Election Law

  • Accused of stealing thousands from charity he founded

  • When in Congress threatened to impeach Obama

  • Accused former president of using children as human shields

Former Republican U.S. Congressman Steve Stockman is facing felony campaign finance charges and five years in the federal penitentiary. The Texas Tea Party member is accused of setting up a charity then conspiring to funnel hundreds of thousands of dollars from it for his personal use.

“According to the complaint, in 2011 Stockman set up a non-profit called Life Without Limits in Las Vegas. A single contributor donated $350,000 to the charity, which Stockman then allegedly funneled back to himself through donations made by his employees,” Click2Houston reports.

A strong supporter of Donald Trump, Stockman pinned this tweet to the top of his Twitter page:

Stockman, who twice served in the U.S. House of Representatives, was known as a bombastic grenade throwing showman who regularly made attention-getting accusations.

In 2013 Rep. Stockman accused President Barack Obama of using children as human shields like Saddam Hussein did. He also actually threatened President Obama with impeachment if he exercised his constitutional right to issue executive orders related to gun control.

Months after the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting Stockman, in a campaign stunt to sign up supporters gave away a Bushmaster AR-15, the same type of gun used by the man who massacred 20 first grade students and six school officials.

Stockman signed on as an original co-sponsor of a bill to amend the Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.
