Twitter Mocks Trump for Falsely Claiming He Denounces Anti-Semitism ‘Wherever I Get a Chance’

‘I Don’t Care What Trump Says About Anti-Semitism Unless He Says It to His Base’

President Donald Trump has had multiple opportunities during his short presidency to denounce anti-Semitism and terror attacks on American Jewish synagogues and community centers, yet declined to do so every time. He declined to do so when given the opportunity as he was standing next to the Prime Minister of Israel at a press conference, and he declined to do so last week when a reporter for a Jewish publication asked him about the dozens of anti-Semitic attacks that have occurred since his inauguration.

It took an NBC reporter just to get the White House to release a statement on the nearly 70 bomb threats targeting Jewish Community Centers and synagogues, and even then the statement did not include the words “Jewish” or “anti-Semitism.” It was as generic as possible.

Hillary Clinton Tuesday morning urged President Trump to denounce the attacks, which now include the overturning of nearly 100 gravestones in a Jewish cemetery

Chelsea Clinton over the past week has also taken to Twitter to urge Trump to denounce the attacks. NCRM has published multiple reports on the deafening silence of our American president to stand up against anti-Semitism and the hate-filled terror attacks.

Finally, on Tuesday morning, when asked directly during a tour of the new Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture by MSNBC’s Craig Melvin, President Trump finally said something: “Anti-Semitism is horrible and it’s going to stop and it has to stop.”

Asked if he is denouncing anti-Semitism, Trump replied, “Oh, of course, and I do it wherever I get a chance I do it.”

That’s false. See above.

Minutes later, giving a short speech at the Museum, Trump echoed his earlier remarks:

‘”The anti-Semitic threats targeting our Jewish community and community centers are horrible and are painful and a very sad reminder of the work that still must be done to root out hate and prejudice and evil,” he said, reading from prepared remarks.

The newspaper Haaretz, based in Israel, immediately reported, “Trump finally breaks silence on anti-Jewish attacks.”

The Anne Frank Center has been attacking Trump’s silence:

They have just issued a statement, saying, issued a statement, saying Trump’s “sudden acknowledgement is a Band-Aid on the cancer of Antisemitism that has infected his own Administration.”

But many people on Twitter are not giving the President a pass for saying what he should have been saying, and had every opportunity to say over the past few weeks.
