WATCH LIVE NOW: Final Senate Vote on Betsy DeVos – Will One More Republican Take a Stand for America’s Kids?

Mike Pence Slated to Cast Hstory-Making Deciding Vote

This is it.

At 12:00 noon EST the U.S. Senate will vote on the nomination of Betsy DeVos, President Donald Trump‘s nominee to become the next Secretary of Education. DeVos, who has a history of anti-gay comments, has used her personal and family fortune to push her anti-public education agenda forward.

DeVos’ committee hearing was so disastrous that reports show tens of millions of people have been calling their Senators demanding they vote against her. The White House has also been flooded with complaints.

Two Republican Senators last week announced they will join all Democrats in voting against DeVos, but since only 51 votes are needed to confirm, unless one more Republican takes a stand for America’s kids, and for America’s higher education students, an entirely unqualified foe of public education will be running the nearly $70 billion federal agency.

Mike Pence is expected to make history, becoming the first vice president forced to cast the deciding vote on a cabinet nominee.

Democratic Senators have spent the past 24 hours “holding the floor,” a mini “filibuster” attempt to bring even more attention to DeVos’ unsuitability.

You can watch live here. The vote is scheduled to begin at noon.
