Twitter Chastises and Mocks Trump for Latest Tweet Claiming ‘Russia Talk Is FAKE NEWS Put Out by the Dems’

Blames Democrats When Even Top Republicans Support Investigation
Having spending the past three weekends in a row at his Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump decided to stay in Washington, D.C. this weekend and has had a bit more time to tweet.
After getting slapped down by newly elected DNC Chair Tom Perez – who told the President he and his new Deputy Chair, Keith Ellison, along with Democrats will be Trump’s “worst nightmare” – the apparently bored Commander-in-Chief just tweeted an insane claim that even top Republicans in Congress disagree with.
Despite the fact that there are multiple FBI investigations into Trump’s and his associates’ ties to Russia, the President just called all that “Russia talk” “FAKE NEWS” being put out by Democrats, with help from the media, “to mask the big election defeat and the illegal leaks!”
Russia talk is FAKE NEWS put out by the Dems, and played up by the media, in order to mask the big election defeat and the illegal leaks!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 26, 2017
(At 137 characters Trump could have deleted “in order” and added in his false but requisite “dishonest” description of the press, and still had three characters to spare: “Russia talk is FAKE NEWS put out by the Dems, and played up by the dishonest media to mask the big election defeat and the illegal leaks!” Sad!)
Trump’s tweet echoes the claim by his Deputy Press Secretary Sunday morning, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who said of calls for investigations into Trump’s Russia ties, “if Democrats want to continue to relive their loss every single day by doing investigations or review after review, that’s fine by us”
Meet the Press made clear earlier today what Trump’s up to:
There’s a pattern to Trump’s attacks on the media. They repeatedly happen directly after reporting on Russia. Watch. pic.twitter.com/uhclIdz3Bo

Immediately on Twitter many, who long ago got wise to his shenanigans of deflection, just mocked Trump:
You know they’re getting closer, don’t you? https://t.co/HuO9wNzfWV

.@realDonaldTrump How is it fake news AND illegal leaks? If it’s fake news, you wouldn’t be after leakers.
— Jordan Uhl (@JordanUhl) February 26, 2017
@realDonaldTrump Good grief, would you shut up about FAKE NEWS? The only FAKE NEWS comes from your head, or your friends at Fox & Breitbart.

The Narcissist in Chief is rage-tweeting again. Somebody take away his unsecure Android phone. @realDonaldTrump https://t.co/ntsOXNYnIB

.@realDonaldTrump Release your tax returns to remove all doubt of your ties to Russia. You won’t, because you have something to hide.

@realDonaldTrump Dude, your White House is so bad you can’t even stop leaks about people being told to stop leaking https://t.co/NiLplpP7Aq pic.twitter.com/zHx7j90gCr

@realDonaldTrump you lost popular vote by 3 million. It was a heist aided by Russia and you will end in handcuffs. No golf in jail.
— Amy Holden Jones (@aholdenj) February 26, 2017
@realDonaldTrump If the leaks are ‘FAKE NEWS’ then why are you so concerned with them?? Oh wait, because you’re afraid of the truth.
— Rod Blackhurst (@rodblackhurst) February 26, 2017
@realDonaldTrump Please stop lying, and release your taxes NOW so we can check for any corrupt dealings with Russia. #TrumpRussia #treason pic.twitter.com/e7VffLJ5kP

And VICE writer Jules Suzdaltsev had a field day responding:
@realDonaldTrump Especially when the things you’re upset about being leaked are examples of treasonous behavior.
— Jules Suzdaltsev (@jules_su) February 26, 2017
@realDonaldTrump To be fair, nothing treasonous about being peed on. Unless it’s in a country that has the video and is blackmailing you.

So did journalist Al Letson, a Peabody winning host of @Reveal and @Errthang:
@realDonaldTrump Additionally, you lost the popular vote by 2.8 million voters. How is this a big election defeat?
— Al Letson (@Al_Letson) February 26, 2017
@realDonaldTrump Also if there are illegal leaks, than is it fair to say that there is a basis behind the reports?
— Al Letson (@Al_Letson) February 26, 2017
@realDonaldTrump was birtherism a fake story? You wanted Obama to prove your accusation wrong. Should you not do the same?
