Anti-Press President Passes
President Donald Trump, just one day after telling attendees at the far right wing convention known as CPAC that the press is “dishonest” and reiterating they are the “enemy,” just one day after his White House barred reporters from five of the nation’s top news media outlets who have published reports critical of his administration, has just posted his plans for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
While the sitting President in modern times generally attends the event, and since 1924 the President has attended at least once during his tenure, this year Donald Trump will not be attending the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.Â
The annual event, often referred to as “nerd prom,†is actually a fundraiser for future journalists and the 103-year old White House Correspondents’ Association.Â
