Trump Falsely Claims Media Didn’t Mention This “Big Crowd Of Enthusiastic Supporters”

In Fact, They Were Significantly Outnumbered By Protesters, But Local Newspaper Did Report On Them

President Donald Trump claimed on Twitter that the “FAKE NEWS media” refused to mention supporters who turned out to cheer him as he left his Mar-A-Lago resort on Sunday.

“Just leaving Florida. Big crowds of enthusiastic supporters lining the road that the FAKE NEWS media refuses to mention. Very dishonest!” Trump wrote.

As it turns out, the Palm Beast Post did report that both protesters and supporters lined Southern Boulevard as Trump’s motorcade passed by, with the protesters appearing to significantly outnumber supporters:

The Post‘s Kristina Webb, who was standing on the side of the road with the anti-Trump protesters, said in a video: “This side of the road is obviously a lot more active than the other side.”

Above is a screen grab from Webb’s video showing the Trump supporters. The Post reported that more than 100 anti-Trump protesters turned out.

“The protesters are rallying around a number of causes, from the Affordable Care Act to their opposition of the Dakota Access Pipeline project,” the newspaper reported. “Trump supporters are lining the north side of Southern Boulevard, directly across from the anti-Trump protesters.”

It’s possible that Trump saw only one side of the road, and assumed people on the opposite side were supporters as well.
