Trump: ‘Any Negative Polls Are Fake News’

Trump Is Coming Completely Unhinged

Facing a historic backlash, President Donald Trump 17 days into his new job is resorting to blatant lying to try to hold on to the minority and diminishing support he has left. Over the weekend Trump’s disapproval numbers, according to Gallup, spiked to 53%, while his approval numbers sunk to 42%. CNN finds Trump “has the highest disapproval ratings of any new president in recent history.” Gallup finds support for Trump’s Supreme Court pick, Neil Gorsuch, is lower than for other recent SCOTUS nominees. And poll after poll after poll finds Americans disapprove of Trump’s Muslim ban and his plan to build a wall on the U.S. Southern border. And they don’t think he is making America safer.

So, what’s a reality TV host and real estate magnate turned president to do?

Lie.

“Any negative polls are fake news,” President Trump announced early Monday morning, in a tweet, of course.

A scathing New York Times article out Sunday says Trump wasn’t fully briefed on the executive order he signed giving Bannon a seat on the National Security Council, and his aides can’t figure out how to operate the White House light switches. Perhaps in response, Trump tweeted that he “calls the shots” based on “data,” and “everyone knows it.”

Also, “some FAKE NEWS media…lies!”

All this comes on Trump’s last day of a mini-vacation he is taking after just two weeks on the job – he’s in “the Winter White House” in Mar-a-Lago (photo) – and after he saw his Muslim ban destroyed this weekend by a U.S. District judge in Washington State, and that ruling, placing a temporary hold on his ban, upheld by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals nearly immediately thereafter.

So, he lies:

President Trump is coming completely unhinged, and he hasn’t been in his new job for even three weeks.
